About

The United World College Red Cross Nordic Campus is teeming with hidden gems that Chris Hamper and his climbing students have discovered over the years. Take a walk around the beautiful campus and around every corner you will find a rock or two with unusually little moss cover. That being said many of them could use a clean.

Boulders

Slottery

Clean

A hard boulder that is always dry. It is great climbing but if you fall off you might fall another 15 meters. Be Careful! Do not fall! There are bolts above the boulder so one could tie in just for safety.

Matchbox

Matchbox

Clean

A beginner boulder with good value traverse style climbing that ends on top of a boulder. It is often our warm up before heading to the island.

Tinkerbell

Small box boulder on the upper road. It has one line but it is a good one. Well worth the visit.

Leif Hoegh

Leif Hoegh

A tall boulder hidden right in the middle of campus. It is often mossy but with a little brushing and two pads a great session awaits.

Teachers' Beach

Teachers' Beach

Dirty

A mini high-ball packed with crack and rail features that offers high and low top outs. We often take new students here for their first outdoor bouldering experience because it its variety of available grades and climbing styles.

The Slabratory

The Slabratory

Often moss covered. We have never really developed this area, since we don't like slabs, but the rock is brilliant and it could be a good section.

The Jewelry

The Jewelry

Clean

Local Mega Classic. The Necklace 6A has been climbed every year for 30 years. Very few visiting climbers have left without sending this one. The boulder is believed to have been dropped by a passing glacier. The rare red ruby lined rock type only exists thousands of miles away. Its a beauty and the climbing is good too.

Alistair's Home Wall

Alistair's Home Wall

Mossy

A large swirly spray wall of a cliff-band boulder in the Teachers' Hill parking lot. You can do all kinds of vertical and traversing routes here. It was just outside Alistair's House for over 20 years. He climbed it most weeks. It could now use a clean and the teachers often park just under it.

Night School

Night School

This is a boulder that is built like a climbing wall. It is a square cliff band boulder of swirly granite that can be climbed in 100 different ways. We use it to show students how to climb outdoors and identify routes. It is right next to a light pole so you can climb all night long, thus Night School.
