Teachers' Hill
8 sections · 65 routes
The signature crag in the area, Teachers' Hill, offers quality rock and varied climbing. Across its six unique sections climbers will find Slab, Overhang, Vertical, Multi-pitch and Trad climbing from grade 4 - 8. This is a fantastic cliff established by local legend Chris Hamper in 1995.

Kendall's Garden is Michael Kendall's first bolted crag. This crag is where he spent 100s of hours cutting trees, removing moss and boulders and he would always say, "I am going to do some gardening." when he left. This section is a historical marker of Kendall's taking over the bolting and maintenance of the local area from Chris Hamper the founder of Teacher's Hill who began by bolting First Generation over 30 years ago. Follow the small trail on the right, ~ 20 meters from the parking lot, to access this lower crag.

A serene place on the edge of the fjord with an excellent collection of technical and powerful climbing. Named after the [Picture a Wave speech from "The Good Place"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1IchzbtNj0). On a sunny day the wall dances with ripples from the fjord. It is an excellent place to hang out.

The first sector you reach on the upper approach, featuring powerful routes on a compact overhanging wall.

This was the first section bolted by Chris Hamper in 1995, thus it is the First Generation. The climbing here and in TOK is special for two reasons: The rock quality is brilliant and it stays dry even in the rain. This is a must climb area in Fjaler.

Overhanging, challenging climbing that stays dry all year round. A local testing ground and a must climb area.

Longer routes on a continuous 50m wall with sustained climbing from the bottom to the top.

This area is great for beginners. It is usually the first stop for climbers that are new to the area. All routes have tag lines for hauling top ropes in place so you do not need to lead the route if you do not wish to. The name derives from an incident on the first ascent when local legend Chris Hamper's harness fell off mid-route due to a harness buckle blunder. Remember your buddy checks and enjoy some great climbing! We recommend starting with Buckle Blunder then Magnus' Variant then maybe Jug City if it is dry or Leif Hoegh or First Generation if you are ready to try go up a level.

A sub vertical section that drys slowly but when ready it offers long pleasant climbs for all levels. Leif Høegh is a local test piece classic.
View section →Exit the main road E-57 toward Flekke. You will see our local petrol station and grocery store, The Flekke Joker, on the right. Follow the small paved road for 3 minutes over a small bridge, past a frisbee golf course, then under a large overhanging rock cliff that was blasted to build the road. Continue on through a field and up a hill. Once you reach the top of the hill the turn will be part way down the hill on the left. You will see a large blue wooden structure on the left. Turn in there.
